Newbie of The Day: Indiana

Wow, I'm so glad Jade told me about this Newbie-slash-Prodigy (and fellow Canadian) Indiana! She's totally awesome! First of all, let me describe her note-worthy style: street-chic, classy and totally wearable. This is what she had to say about her style, "I basically own really cheap and/or homemade versions of the kinds of things in my sets. Ie: Graphic tees, colourful shoes, etc. I like to be different, I try my best to put things together that other people perhaps wouldn't think of. Like you, I get a lot of my inspiration from the runways, the street, art, and ... music. I just really love fashion"
She's already got her own thing going on, which is something to say; considering she's only been on for 27 days! WOW! And get this--she already has 139 favourites too, a big achievement, considering many users don't even reach that mark until later on. Okay, so maybe it's way later on. But anywho, I see a great, big polyvore-future for Indiana--so look out for her!

Wednesday's Child: ZiggyMoonieStardust

It's Wednesday, my favourite day of the whole week! YAY! But back to topic--I bring you ZiggyMoonieStardust, formerly known as HardRock. What can I say about this fresh up-and-comer? A lot, that's what! She's got a funky style all her own--a fab, unique mix of rock 'n' roll, Kate Moss and vintage. When asked to comment, she replied, "I just love the whole rock n roll/hippie scene! pretty much a mix of both and im actually not a feminine person. i love everything Kate Moss and i have an extreme dislike in those abercrombie/hollister mumbojumbo!"

This girl's got style, and if ya don't believe me check out her sets! She may only have 3 pages, but they're all pretty much awesome! It's also a total mystery why this girl's only got 212 contacts in 4 months! IMO, if she keeps doing what she does, she'll totally make a name for herself here on Polyvore!

Prodigy Of The Day: ThriftQueen

I'm practically in love with every single one of ThriftQueen's sets! I Must say, I'm a big fan of her them; featuring her eclectic, vintagey and classy style. I also love the way she mixes modern styles with soft girly touches; It adds a little bit more excitement. Ooh, don't forget her ever-changing-yet-cool layouts! Sometimes, vertical, sometimes square, they add a little more spice to her already flavourful style. Keep rocking, ThriftQueen!

Good Things Come In Threes

OK, kids. I know you've been waiting for my first real post featuring Polyvore prodigies, so I shan't keep you waiting.

First on my radar, Up and Comer Jayzalin! I think I stumbled upon her when I was exploring my contacts' contacts' contacts' page. First thing I noticed about Jayzalin? Her simplistic, easy-going sense of style paired with funky accessories and neat layout. When I asked about her style philosophy, she replies, "My style is everywhere... I like anything from professional to mismatched vintage. i try to add a bit of an edge to my style. my favourite fashion items are currently flat sandals with ankle straps, chunky platforms, oversized shirts/sweaters and shorts with suspenders".

She's def. got her own thing going on, and I think she's got what it takes to become big on Polyvore. One more thing...She's a fellow Canadian!

Next up is Layladylay, a funky user with an even funkier style. I must admit, I just love the way she makes fun, wearable outfits with unique accessories all wrapped up in neat layouts. She's got a definite style that I'd definitely watch out for--indie, mixed with street and with current trends jumbled in too. Only thing this prodigy needs is more recognition! With all of that going on for her, it's a wonder why she's only got 38 contacts and 353 faves in 3 months!

Last [but not least], is Kat's Meow! What can I say? She's got awesome style--kooky, vintagey, fun and she's got awesome sets. When I asked about her inspiration and style, she replied,"Everything inspires me...People, Art, Film, History, Literature, Music, etc. My style is artsy and eclectic. I love vintage & putting together things most people wouldn't think of. I think accessories make an outfit interesting and with my sets I like to tell a story. I think fashion lets us tell a story; express ourselves."

When I first came across her profile, I instantly fell in love with her current sets (era sets from the 80's, 60's, & 70's) and just had to add her! Kat's Meow has only 4 pages of sets but they're all awesome! I'm particularly InLove with page two... I think they contain some of her best ones!

Well, that's all for today.... so go on, SKEDADDLE! Go and check out their sets! SHOO!

Glossary

Hello, my fashionable peers! Now, I know you are probably aniticipating to see which hot, new [undiscovered] talent will be featured on my first entry, BUT instead I will make my little pallies [you] a Glossary instead.

"But why the hell will we need one of those, HBT?", you may ask. And to that I will answer, "So you can follow along every episode without being left the slightest bit confused."

So now without further ado, here is the Glossary! Mind you, I don't think I will make it alphabetical, due to the fact that I am extremely lazy. Also please note that I will keep adding to this when I make up new words.

Prodigy- Someone I deem a fashion genius; makes wonderful sets and seems to be be 'under the radar' ie. not enough contacts/faves when they obviously should have more recognition.

Diamond in the rough- Pretty much the same as prodigy, although they may have more recognition. Slightly, anyway.

Up and Comer- Someone who makes aweosme sets consistently, with a little more recognition than a Prodigy. In a way, they're well on their way to being recognized.

Newbie- A user who's only been on Polyvore for a short amount of time; typically less than a month.

Featured User- At one point or another, I will ocassionally 'feature' another user whose sets/style i have admired, loved, pondered about for a long-ish time. They won't nessecarily be prodigies or newbies, just someone whose style I've been a fan of.

(Yeah I know the glossary's a lil' short ryt now, but, HEY! It's my first post, whaddaya want?)

Until next post!
HBT♥
